Origin:
In May 2007, the Faith Foundation established Da-Guang (Great Light, Isaiah 9:2) Children and Youth Home, the first orphanage in Keelung. We provide care and upbringing for disadvantaged and abused children and youth. Since our founding, we have supported nearly 300 children, accompanying them through the most vulnerable and challenging moments of their lives.
Within our institution, children rediscover love and trust, gradually regaining their smiles and self-confidence. Many of our former residents have successfully integrated into society, achieving stable independence, and some have started their own families. These youths have not only overcome their trauma but have also broken the vicious cycle of violence for the next generation, becoming valuable assets and pillars of society.
Mission and Vision:
Upholding the love of Jesus Christ, we develop professional, community-based, and diversified services to care for and provide placement for children and youth in need.
Our goal is to be a premier residential child and youth care institution that implements holistic care.
Service Eligibility:
In accordance with the "Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act," we provide protective placement and upbringing services for children and youth aged 10 to 20.
Core Services:
- Residential Placement: Secure housing and care for children and youth.
- Daily Life Care: Provision of daily necessities and general medical assistance.
- Holistic Care: Counseling for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
- Educational Support: Academic tutoring and character education.
- Independent Living Training: Developing essential life skills for self-sufficiency.
- Family Reintegration: Counseling and assistance for reconstructing family functions.
- Aftercare Services: Follow-up tracking and guidance after leaving our residential child and youth care institution.
- Care for Independent Alumni:
Youth who graduate from our residential child and youth care institution often struggle to find sufficient financial or emotional support from their original families due to dysfunction or histories of domestic violence and abuse.
With "Home" and "Roots" as our core philosophy, Da-Guang creates an atmosphere of warmth and belonging through regular outreach, shared meals, and holiday companionship. We provide immediate financial support and aid during emergencies, ensuring our alumni never face loneliness or hardship alone. Through love and acceptance, we empower them to regain their strength and walk steadily toward an independent life.
